Planning a Bathroom Update in the Sale

Measure around the plumbing first

Before choosing a vanity, note where your water and waste pipes sit and how much width you have between walls and doors. Wall hung vanities free up floor space and make the room easier to clean, but they need solid support behind the wall. Freestanding baths need room to walk around them and a waste in the right spot. Plumbing work in Australia must be done by a licensed plumber, so it’s worth getting advice before you buy.

Match the mirror and tapware to the vanity

A bathroom mirror usually looks best at about the width of the vanity or slightly narrower. LED bathroom mirrors add useful light for shaving and make-up. When choosing tapware, check the tap holes on your basin and whether you need a wall or deck mounted mixer.

Small changes that make a difference

If a full renovation isn’t on the cards, new towel rails, hooks and shelving can make a tired bathroom feel more organised.
